Stage 5 of 8 — Release

Release.
Becoming Your New Story.

The emotions arrive. Guilt, fear, shame, blame. That’s okay — it’s completely normal. And this is the most important stage in the entire programme.

Stage 5 of 8 — Release

Becoming
Your New Story.

This is the most important stage in the entire programme. And the one most people underestimate.

Right about here is where all the emotions start showing up. Guilt. Fear. Shame. Blame. The victim mindset. That’s okay — it is completely normal. And I want you to know that I’m here to support you through this. You built your current life with no idea how your Concept of Self was being created. If you didn’t know then — how can you be to blame?

The reason Stage 5 is so critical is this: you can’t design a genuinely new story while the old one is still running at full volume. The intellectual understanding isn’t enough. The release has to be felt, in the body, not just thought through in the mind. This is why the HeartMath tools are not optional here. They create the physiological conditions that make genuine release possible.

Believe me, the gold lies inside the cave. You have to go in there to find it. And once you do, the weight that lifts is extraordinary.

"You didn't choose the story that was given to you. But you absolutely can choose what happens next. Stage 5 is where that choice becomes real — not just as an idea, but as a felt body experience."

THE SCIENCE

Polyvagal Theory (Porges, 2011) explains why felt safety is not optional in release work: your nervous system needs to be in a ventral vagal state — regulated, safe — for genuine emotional processing to occur. In a sympathetic or dorsal vagal state, the brain cannot distinguish between processing a memory and being threatened by it. Heart-Focused Breathing activates the vagus nerve through HRV coherence, creating the biological conditions for genuine release rather than re-traumatisation.

What you work through in Stage 5

Creating felt safety first
Before any release work begins, we establish physiological safety using Tool 1 — Heart-Focused Breathing. This is not optional. The nervous system needs to be regulated before it can process. We always start here.
Analysing Your Concept of Self
A complete inventory of your current concept of self — thoughts, feelings, experiences, habits, traits, personality, identity — mapped in full. You need to see the whole shape of what you’ve been carrying before you can choose to set it down.
The release process
Using Tool 3 (Finding Wisdom in Emotional Pain) and Tool 4 (Letting Go), you move through a structured process of feeling, processing and releasing the old story. Not analysing it one more time. Actually feeling it, finding what wisdom it carries, and allowing it to move through and out.
Compassion for the journey
The Self-Compassion Break (Tool 8) is woven through this stage. Self-criticism and shame make change harder. Self-compassion creates the psychological conditions in which real change becomes possible. You cannot shame yourself into growth.
