Mindfulness that changes what you do, not just how you feel for ten minutes. In person in Melbourne, or online anywhere in Australia.
Most mindfulness gets taught as a way to relax. That's useful, and it's not the point. The real value sits in the gap between something happening and you reacting to it. Learn to work in that gap, and the patterns you've been stuck in start to loosen.
Andy Fox is an IMMA Accredited Mindfulness Trainer based in Melbourne. He's also a HeartMath Certified Trainer and Coach and an ACT Coach, and he works with individuals and organisations, in person and online.
Here's the thing. Andy didn't come to mindfulness looking for calm. He came to it because insight on its own wasn't changing anything. He could understand exactly why he kept reacting the same way, and still react the same way. Mindfulness was the missing skill: catching the pattern while it's happening, not three hours later.
That's the lens he coaches through. Not mindfulness as a wellness add-on, but as the practical skill underneath every change you're trying to make.
Mindfulness coaching is one-to-one training in paying attention on purpose — to your thoughts, your body and your reactions — and then using that awareness to choose differently in the moments that matter. It's practical, it's measurable in your behaviour, and it doesn't ask you to sit cross-legged for an hour.
An app can teach you to notice your breath. A coach helps you notice the pattern that runs your Tuesday afternoons, the story that kicks in before a hard conversation, the habit you swore you'd drop. Then you practise working with it, in your real life, with someone keeping you honest.
Every pattern you want to change runs through the same short gap between trigger and reaction. Coaching trains four skills that widen it.
Spot the thought, feeling or urge as it arises, instead of after you've already acted on it.
Put a plain label on it — "there's the I'm-behind story again." Naming it creates a little distance from it.
Use the gap. One breath, a few seconds. Enough for your thinking mind to catch up with your nervous system.
Act from what you actually value, not from the old pattern. Small choices, repeated, are how behaviour really changes.
Plenty of people try mindfulness and drift off it within a few weeks. Not because they're doing it wrong. Because it was sold as relaxation, and when life gets loud, relaxation is the first thing to go.
The practice sticks when it's connected to something you actually care about changing. That's the difference coaching makes. Every session ties the skill back to a specific pattern in your life, so you can see it working — and so it's still there when you need it most.
For the research behind this approach, see mindfulness for behaviour change.
People who've had enough of knowing better and doing the same thing anyway.
You're good at your job and you can't switch off. Mindfulness gives you a way to put the day down instead of carrying it into the evening.
Snapping at people you love, the email you shouldn't have sent. Coaching works on the half-second before the reaction.
Not clinical anxiety treatment. A practical way to step back from the thought loop instead of being pulled along by it.
The scroll, the snack, the procrastination. Awareness first, then a choice — practised until the new response is the easy one.

Meditation is one way to train attention. Mindfulness is the skill itself — being aware of what's happening as it happens. HeartMath works one level down, on the nervous system state that decides whether you can access that awareness at all.
Andy uses all three because each covers a gap the others leave. If your body is bracing for impact, awareness is hard to reach, so HeartMath steadies the system first. Mindfulness then lets you see the pattern clearly. And ACT, the third strand, helps you act on your values instead of the old story.

In Melbourne, sessions run in person. Anywhere else in the country, they run by video. The work doesn't change: same practices, same focus on your real-life patterns, same follow-through between sessions.
You can work with Andy in standalone mindfulness coaching sessions, or as part of the Self Blueprint, where mindfulness runs through the early stages as the skill that lets you see your Concept of Self clearly before you start redesigning it. Either way in works.
20 minutes, no pressure. You and Andy work out whether mindfulness coaching is the right fit.

What does a mindfulness coach do? A mindfulness coach teaches you practical attention skills and helps you apply them to your actual life — the reactions, habits and patterns you want to change. It's training and application, not therapy and not a relaxation class.
Is mindfulness coaching the same as meditation? No. Meditation is one practice that can build mindfulness. Coaching is about using that awareness in real moments — the meeting, the argument, the late-night scroll — so it changes what you actually do.
Do I need any meditation experience? None. Most people Andy works with have tried an app or two and drifted off it. You start from where you are, with short practices you can use straight away.
Can I do mindfulness coaching online? Yes. Sessions run in person in Melbourne or by video anywhere in Australia. The work is the same either way.
Do you run mindfulness training for workplaces? Yes. Andy delivers mindfulness and resilience training for teams and organisations, in Melbourne and online. Resilience for Business
