Executive stress and decision fatigue
You're making good decisions all day and running on fumes by the end of it. HeartMath gives you a way to reset between decisions instead of absorbing the cost of every one.
"Every journey toward an intentional life begins with a single step."

A book or a YouTube video can explain HeartMath to you. A certified trainer can show you, in real time, what's actually happening in your own nervous system. Then give you a practice built around your body and your life, not a generic one.
Andy Fox is a HeartMath Certified Trainer and Coach based in Melbourne. The credential is issued directly by the HeartMath Institute, the non-profit research organisation in California that has spent more than 40 years studying how the heart and nervous system talk to each other. He works with individuals and organisations, in person and online.
Here's the thing. There are a lot of people teaching breathing exercises and calling it HeartMath. The certification is something different. You go through the Institute's own training pathway, not a weekend course, and you come out authorised to teach the full suite of HeartMath techniques, use HRV biofeedback with clients and deliver HeartMath programmes.
Andy didn't go after it to collect another credential. HeartMath turned out to be the missing piece in everything else he was already doing. The Self Blueprint works with your story, your values and your choices. HeartMath works with the nervous system underneath all of that, the part that decides whether you can actually reach calm, clear thinking when it matters, or whether you're white-knuckling it.
Alongside HeartMath, Andy is an ACT Coach and an IMMA Accredited Mindfulness Trainer.
"The certification changed how I understand everything I do. HeartMath isn't a technique I add to the toolkit. It's the foundation the whole framework is built on."
"HeartMath practitioner" is what most people type into Google. The credential itself is HeartMath Certified Trainer and Coach, and it's issued by the HeartMath Institute. So if you're looking for a HeartMath practitioner in Melbourne, the question worth asking is simple: are they certified by the Institute?
Andy is. That means the real techniques, taught the way they were designed, with HRV biofeedback so you can see what's changing rather than guess. It also means he can deliver the Institute's structured programmes to groups and teams, not just one-to-one sessions.
No incense, no vague "just breathe" instructions. A session starts with a baseline HRV reading: biofeedback that measures your heart rhythm in real time, so you see your own nervous system on a screen before you change anything.
From there Andy walks you through Heart-Focused Breathing, then the Quick Coherence Technique, HeartMath's two-step method. Step one is the breathing on its own. Step two is deliberately bringing in a genuine positive feeling alongside it, which is what actually shifts your heart rhythm from erratic to coherent. You watch it happen on the same screen you started with.
You leave with your own coherence baseline and a practice you can use anywhere, in under a minute, with nothing but your own attention.
People who are tired of white-knuckling it. Usually that's one of five places.
You're making good decisions all day and running on fumes by the end of it. HeartMath gives you a way to reset between decisions instead of absorbing the cost of every one.
Not clinical anxiety treatment. A measurable, repeatable way to bring your nervous system back from the edge when it's stuck in overdrive, in the moment, without waiting it out.
Athletes, executives, anyone walking into a high-stakes room. HeartMath trains the state you want to reach on demand, not just the one you happen to be in.
If you've been running on overdrive for months, HeartMath gives you a number, your own HRV, to track the recovery. Not just a feeling.
For workplaces, Andy delivers the HeartMath Resilience Advantage Programme, a structured group programme that builds coherence skills and emotional resilience across a team.
There are three ways in, and you can start with whichever fits.
Standalone sessions with live HRV biofeedback, in person or online. The fastest way to learn the techniques and see them work in your own body.
HeartMath is built into the programme as the physiological foundation of the inner work, with HeartMath audio practices you can use anywhere, anytime.
HeartMath's structured resilience programme, delivered by Andy for individuals and for teams and businesses.
In Melbourne, sessions run in person in the CBD and surrounds: same biofeedback equipment, same process, and the chance to ask questions in the room. The Live Cohort runs in Melbourne too.
Anywhere else in the country, sessions run by video, and Andy brings the tools you use in the session. You don't need any equipment to do the practice. If you'd like to see your own HRV live on the call and at home, a HeartMath ear sensor pairs with your phone or laptop. It's optional, but worth having.
The depth of the work doesn't change. What changes is whether you'd rather do it face to face or fit it around a schedule that doesn't allow for the trip.
HeartMath isn't a bolt-on at Living with Intention. It's built into Stage 5 of the framework, Release, as the foundation the rest of the work stands on. These are the five practices you learn.
The foundation tool. Attention on the heart, slow even breathing: five seconds in, five seconds out. This alone starts shifting your heart rhythm toward coherence.
Building on the breathing, deliberately drawing in a felt sense of ease rather than forcing calm. The difference between checked out and genuinely settled.
A structured way to sit with a difficult emotion long enough to ask what it's actually telling you, instead of pushing it down or being run by it.
A practical release technique for the stories and reactions that aren't serving you anymore. Not willpower. A repeatable process.
A longer practice for locking in a coherent state, and the felt sense of gratitude that keeps it going well beyond the session.
You don't have to take anyone's word for whether it's working. The biofeedback shows your heart rhythm moving from the spiky, erratic pattern that comes with stress to the smooth, even wave that comes with coherence, in the same session, on the same screen.
What clients consistently report afterwards is a baseline that's easier to come back to under pressure. Stress doesn't disappear. The gap between getting triggered and getting back to clear thinking gets shorter every time you practise.
"You can read about coherence. You can watch a video about it. But the moment someone sees their own heart rhythm shift on a screen, in front of them, because of something they just did with their attention — that's when it stops being a concept and starts being theirs."
20 minutes, no pressure. You and Andy work out whether HeartMath training is the right fit before any money changes hands.
Melbourne in person, or video anywhere in Australia. Same training either way.
Your first HRV reading, the foundation tools, and a clear sense of where your coherence sits right now.
Standalone sessions, or fold HeartMath into the full Self Blueprint. Entirely up to you. No obligation either way.
Do I need to buy any equipment? No. Andy provides the tools you use in every session, in person or online, and the practice itself needs nothing but your attention. If you want live HRV feedback at home, you can buy a HeartMath ear sensor that pairs with your phone. It's optional, but worth having.
Is HeartMath backed by research? Yes. The HeartMath Institute has published research on heart rhythms, HRV and coherence for more than 40 years, and the techniques Andy teaches come straight from that work. See the science
How is HeartMath different from meditation? Meditation asks you to trust the process. HeartMath shows you the result on a screen while it's happening. The same nervous system shift, made measurable.
How many HeartMath sessions will I need? That's exactly what the discovery call is for. It depends on what you're working with, and whether you want standalone sessions or the full programme.
Can I do HeartMath sessions without joining the Self Blueprint? Yes. Standalone sessions are available on their own, or as part of the full programme. Either entry point works.
Do you work with teams and organisations? Yes. Andy delivers the HeartMath Resilience Advantage Programme for workplaces, in Melbourne and online. Resilience for Business
